Tetzlaff Quartet

Pre-concert Talk by Dr. Kurt-Alexander Zeller 2:00 PM
$56

Christian Tetzlaff, violin               Elisabeth Kufferath, violin               Hanna Weinmeister, viola               Tanja Tetzlaff, cello

“Supremely lyrical, exactingly detailed playing…impeccable balance and unanimity…an overwhelming performance” (The New York Times).

“Christian Tetzlaff is distinguished by his deep musical empathy – his ability to open a window into a composer’s inner life” (The New Yorker).

Discovering a mutual devotion to chamber music Christian and Tanja Tetzlaff, Hanna Weinmeister and Elisabeth Kufferath formed their string quartet in 1994. Since then, the four musicians play several chamber music evenings every season for which they have received impressive critical acclaim, even if they work together just sporadically.

The Tetzlaff Quartett frequently gives concerts not only in Germany, but also in France, Italy, Belgium, Switzerland, Great Britain and USA. In the past years the quartet has performed at the Auditorium du Louvre in Paris, at the Société Philharmonique of Brussels, at Vienna’s Musikverein as well as the Concertgebouw Amsterdam. The ensemble is a welcome guest at international festivals such as the Berliner Festwochen, Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival and Bremen Musikfest. Their first CD on the CAvi label (Independent Allegro music group for the USA) with works of Schönberg and Sibelius was released in September 2010.
