Atlanta Chamber Players
Paula Peace, artistic director

Bliss Point, a quartet for clarinet, violin, cello, and piano, commissioned by the Atlanta Chamber Players from Polish violinist/composer Piotr Szewczyk (a two-time Rapido Composition Contest Southeast Finalist), addresses the perfect combinations of a particular musical taste or flavor that inspire transcendent joy, and receives its world premiere at Spivey Hall. Bohemian composer Bohuslav Martinu’s 1942 Piano Quartet No. 1 displays the composer's characteristic directness and rhythmic athleticism. Ever critical of his own work, Johannes Brahms sanctioned the 1875 premiere of his C-minor Piano Quartet only after laboring over it for 20 years. Combining the stormy drama of youth with the technical prowess of a mature composer, this Romantic masterpiece features some of his most personal and powerful music, and has been a favorite of ACP musicians and audiences through the decades.
