Sponsored by The Friends of Spivey Hall with additional support from the Southern Arts Federation, master classes are led by internationally recognized artists with a desire to encourage others in their field. Master classes are not only an opportunity for a musicians to receive personal instruction from a highly acclaimed artist, but also a chance for the audience to experience the level of detail and preparation necessary to become an exceptional musician. Master classes provide a glimpse into the lives of some of the most talented artists currently performing and Spivey Hall is proud to offer this opportunity to its community.
Amateur, professional, high school, and college students may apply to perform in a master class by submitting an audition recording. Music lovers of all abilities who wish to learn more about technique, interpretation, and artistry are also welcome to attend as auditors. To Audit:To attend a master class as an auditor, please call the Spivey Hall box office at (678) 466-4200 to purchase a ticket. There is no registration deadline for auditors and tickets will also be available at the door before each class. The fee to audit a master class is $10.To Apply to Perform:To apply to perform in a master class, download and complete the registration form to the right. Record two contrasting selections on a cassette tape or CD, not to exceed 15 minutes in total length. Mail the completed form with the tape or CD to Spivey Hall. Please also include the fee of $10 in a check made payable to CSU. Audition CDs and tapes will not be returned. Please note the application deadlines on the registration form. Spivey Hall will notify all applicants within two weeks of the deadline of their application status. Applicants who are not selected to perform may audit the class. Spivey Hall does not provide an accompanist for master class participants. |
