Gunnar Idenstam was born in the extreme north of Sweden, and his teachers included the renowned French organist Marie-Claire Alain. A compelling interpreter of Bach and winner of the 1984 Grand Prix de Chartres for improvisation, Gunnar Idenstam enjoys an international career as recitalist, composer, arranger, folk musician, and recording artist.
