Jeremy Denk
Piano Master Class
Saturday, February 13, 2010 11AM
$10
American pianist Jeremy Denk has steadily established himself as one
of the most versatile and compelling artists of his generation. In
praise of a recent concert, The Washington Post observed: "What
made his performance so compelling was the intelligence, lyricism and
transparency that illuminated everything he touched."
Recipient of a prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant, he has appeared
as soloist with the major orchestras of Philadelphia, St. Louis, Houston,
San Francisco, and Atlanta, as well as with New York's Orpheus
Chamber Orchestra. In a rich variety of repertoire spanning several
centuries, he has collaborated with distinguished colleagues at concert
venues and festivals throughout the United States and Europe, including
a long series of performances with violinist Joshua Bell.
Jeremy Denk is a faculty member of the Bard College Conservatory of
Music. He holds a Master of Music degree from Indiana University following
studies with György Sebök, and a doctorate in piano performance
from The Juilliard School, where he worked with Herbert Stessin. Denk
is a highly articulate (and often humorous) commentator on music, whether
speaking from the stage or posting on his blog, "Think Denk:
The Glamorous Life and Thoughts of a Concert Pianist."
Jeremy Denk can be seen in concert at Spivey Hall with violinist Joshua Bell on Saturday, February 13, 2010 at 8:15 PM. Click here to find out more.
